From Monday 20 of May to Saturday 25 UNIVA students, teachers,
staff and parents lived the UNIVA’s cultural week 2013. This year the format of
the event changed, this time the classes were off and the students had to
assist to 5 events daily, so this time the number of events increased
tremendously.
· The opening:
Where: SUM
Date: May 20
In Monday we started with the
opening with the participation of the drama club, Jazz, regional dance, ballet
and singers. The event started with the voice of Santiago Mendez Bravo telling
the story of the staring of UNIVA. Then a play about his life and dead, after
that the regional dance club had an intervention with the jazz club next, the
play continued and a video of a teacher telling how great was when UNIVA had
their own building after a lot of years of sharing building, then Jazz club
appeared again, the ballet club and an opera singer presented “Allegria”,
closing with the presentation of all the participants of the event dancing
randomly to Wepa.
· Math Rally:
Where: UNIVA
Date: May 21

| My team |
As a personal experience
(because I participated obviously) was cool, long and tired but cool. The rally
consisted in 7 stations each one has a math topic and a challenge, the people
in charge of the station gave you an envelope with the problems you have to answer,
the exercise could be of topics of 2º, 4º or 6º, the team should be integrated
with 2 students of each grade, you had 20 minutes to answer the exercises and
even if you are done or not you had to do the challenge. The event stared at
10:00 and end at 1:00 but to the day we don’t have the results of the winner.
· “ Chico y Chica UNIVA”:
Where: SUM
Date: Mat 23
Hour: 7:00 – 9:30
This year “chico y chica UNIVA”
event was a little more crowded, the organization of the event had a little bit
of trouble because some people were in the front standing up without a place to
sit forcing the ones with a sit to stand up in the chairs, and in every
intervention of the hosts they asked for everyone to sit down for security
rules, even some coordinators had to say the guys to sit down more than once,
but as soon as the runaway start they stand up again.
The host Geraldine and Fernan
teachers of the communication area were the hosts, they did a wonderful work
even the noise and the problems of space. The first runaway was casual, the
second one was already with their night gowns and the third one was a vintage
run away showing how people dressed in other decades. And while the judges make
a decision a pair of girls danced a
remix of Latin Rhythms.
After the first elimination the judges table, that
includes Adrian Lopez and the director of R G M model agency (that prepared
the contestants), asked the remain participants things like, if you have to
choose one food to eat all your life what would be it ?, If you can have dinner
with anyone, dead or alive, who would be it? And what is your dream job?
The winners got tickets to the
cinema, Agua Caliente, and scholarships for Gaurrie . The first place was Elizabeth Garcia and Daniel Jiménez, both of 4º semester. At the end of the event there was a “cocktail”
but by the time we went out of the SUM the sodas (yes a cocktail with only
sodas) and the food were gone.
· Movi-Danza & Ritmo-Dance
Hour: 10 :00- 12:00
Date: May 24
This event was divided in two the first
hour was like a Zumba class with a teacher that danced a lot of different
rhythms and songs, and the second hour was a class of cross fit with 3
instructors. The first class we can say it was relaxed and funny and the second
one a little harder and strict, but a lot of people give up and sit down .
· Exposition cultural week poster
Place: Principal hall
Hour: 9:30- 4:00
Date: May 21, 22 and 23

| 1º PLACE |
The exposition included all the posters
that were considered for the cultural week, and showed the 3º first places. There
were some good one, but other that seem to have been made in paint.

· Extreme Games:
Place: soccer field
Hour: 10:00- 2:00
Date: May 22
The “extreme games” were a jumper of
titanic, another of pyramid a boxing ring, a trampoline and two mechanical
bulls (that are not extreme games). Also they charged the entry and in the
schedule doesn’t say anything about paying for it, but anyways it was really
fun to remember your childhood.
· Recycling workshop:
Place: biology lab
Hour: 11:00- 11:50
Date: May 22
I entered here waiting an exposition of recycled
crafts (because the original name of the event is “expo taller reciclado”) but
actually it was a workshop, just like papirolas it was fun, we made a portrait
and a candle holder, the first one was easy with cardboard and tin foil, the
second was a little more elaborated with a candle and a soda can.
The new
format of the event: I liked it but it was a little bit too because everything is full and you have to
do waiting likes of years!! There were more events, and better ones and a week
without clases is pretty cool, but i suggest taht the next year, should take
the classes, but give us the schedule of specific events that have to go, it
would be easier for everyone, and also to have optional events like chico y
chica univa. It was a good cultural week, better tan the other year one.
