Guadalajara is the capital of the Mexican state of Jalisco, and the seat of the municipality of Guadalajara.

-Foundation

Guadalajara was founded on 4 occasions, the first one by Nuño de Guzmán. As he was a native of Guadalajara, Castile, Spain, decided to christen the town with that name.

Shortly after the settlement changed from Nochistlán (Zacatecas) to Tonala

Two years later, Guadalajara is 'moved' to Tlacotán (1535) but the constant attacks of the Indians urged to move again.

The 63 survivors Spanish and Indians , finally settled in the Valley of Atemajac, founding Guadalajara river west of San Juan de Dios (precisely in the back of the current Teatro Degollado ).

-Famous Landmarks

Guadalajara through the decades

30's - 50's
